The fifth Guru

Named for Guru Arjan Dev Ji, who compiled the Adi Granth and built Sri Harmandir Sahib

Guru Arjan Dev Ji (1563 to 1606) compiled the first edition of the Sikh scripture and completed Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. His martyrdom in 1606 is remembered every year in May or June. Sukhmani Sahib, the Psalm of Peace read in this Gurdwara every morning, is his composition.

Our history and the Gurdwara today

Management Committee 2025 to 2027

For the first time in Derby's history, a female President leads the Gurdwara

We are humbled to announce that, for the first time in Derby's history, we have a female President, Bibi Kashmir Kaur, leading the Gurdwara. This is a proud and historic moment for our community, and we see it as a true reflection of Guru Sahib's teachings on equality.

Seva

Keep the Gurdwara open to all

Langar, the divan, the Granthi Singhs and the building are all paid for by the Sangat. The Gurdwara is a registered charity recognised by HMRC for Gift Aid, which adds 25p to every pound a UK taxpayer gives.
